When riding motorcycles there is always a risk, you are a vulnerable road user. Whether or not you are a hardened experienced biker that has been riding for years, or you have just done your CBT, the risk is still there due to other road users. Unfortunately, on the 21st of June 2018 when commuting on the A58 to my new job in Leeds an SUV pulled out of a side road and hit me side on. I had just got the type of job that I had been working for, for the last 14 years. I didn’t mind the 18-mile commute on the bikeRead More →

The plan.. At the end of July in 2017 I set off for something I had dreamed of doing as a kid, a tour of a few countries in Europe by motorcycle. I first planned on visiting a friend and his wife who live in Zeddam, Netherlands which is a stones throw from the German border, then riding down through Germany and the black forest, cutting into Luxemburg and up into Belgium then to Calais in France. So I booked my ferries leaving from Harwich in the UK and returning from Calais. For some reason it just didn’t get me excited, I had two weeksRead More →

…Now back on the mainland I headed up to Strathcarron where I would actually join the North Coast 500 route and head west and snake my way up the incredibly impressive Applecross pass. From east to west you start with a very picturesque view of the countryside and mountains as you slowly wind up the single track round approaching the mountains on the applecross pass. I was very lucky that the weather was perfect with blue skies and sunshine giving me an awesome view over Loch Kishorn and the islands even seeing right over to Plockton in the distance. Bealach na Ba is the ScotishRead More →

In August 2016 I decided it was about time I explored Scotland and it didn’t take much of research to know that I wanted to do the North Coast 500 route. The NC500 is advertised as Scotland’s answer to Route 66 and is named one of the top coastal road trips in the world. The advertised route starts in Inverness and snakes west across the country in the direction of the little town of Applecross, where you get to experience the epic Applecross Pass. The route then continues northward to Torridon, Ullapool and finally Durness where you will start heading east towards tongue (be sureRead More →

I have had a number of bikes in the past few years but thought I would give you a run down of what I am riding now and why. At the moment I have two bikes, a 1999 Honda VFR800 FI-X (the wonderful pre V-Tech model) and a 2007 Triumph Sprint ST 1050 (she is a beaut!) I know what some of you are thinking, “what’s the point of having two sports tourers?” Well there isn’t really, I had the VFR for a few years and crashed it (twice), nothing serious just small offs not really causing any damage at all to the bike. AlthoughRead More →
