My first wildcamping trip was a complete success! My first wildcamping trip was a complete success! I chose Pen-y-ghent, the lowest of the Yorkshire three peaks. I had a pack weight of 18.5kg. I summited at about 7pm and took about half hour to find a suitable spot to pitch my tent, away from the footpaths, flat-ish, and with a killer view of the sunset. All achieved. It's tricky as an amputee but more than doable with a bit of adaption and making sure you take a break to dry your leg before you think it necessary. Otherwise you've usually left it too long. I was up making a morning brew in my sleeping bag, overlooking the amazing landscape at about half 5. Packed up and away by 7am. I mentioned something big was coming. I am teaming I mentioned something big was coming. I am teaming up with Sam at @mkm_self_defence_academy to raise money for @dayonetrauma by walking all 96 miles of the west highland way, over 7 days, wild camping the whole route. We will be figuring out the exact date in the next couple of weeks, but for now I have a lot of training to do. A reminder that social media is usually the better A reminder that social media is usually the better sides of life. Although I bossed this walk, due to a few prosthetic issues we are having at the moment such as the foot not being quite the right for walking, sleeves and liners getting old and needing renewing. I lost some skin at the back of my leg where the edge of the socket sits. This then means that I have to stay off my leg for about 4 to 5 days to let the skin heal as fast as possible and not cause any more issues. which then causes me to get bored and frustrated, eating more, drinking more alcohol. This all adds up to low mood and motivation, making it really difficult to get going with anything, let alone fitness.
