This adventure has been a massive slog for me and

This adventure has been a massive slog for me and Sam @everyday_amputee but would definitely not have been anywhere near enjoyable and would not have got anywhere near the distance we did without all the amazing people we’ve met along the way. From a quick chat on trail, donation along the way or even the legends that picked our stuff up, greeted us with cold beer and let us tag along on the last bit of our trip to get home.
Not sure I have you all on socials but will try and get you all tagged! And again Thank you so much!

Day 6 - So my leg has got the better of me! I couldn’t push it any further without causing anything permanent BUT we have managed 54.08 miles in total including the 5 miles in the kayak. It’s been a great trip even with the pain after mile 12!! We’ve met some amazing people along the way who have all helped in some way, be it motivation, donations, shifting luggage for us or some free food. I’m gutted I couldn’t make it any further but it’s a sensible choice. Just means we have to do it again next year!!!! Have to say a big thanks to everyone who’s supported us and helped out. Thanks to @everyday_amputee for putting up with my moaning for a week. @dayonetrauma

Day 5! I managed to keep going a bit further. We went from Inversnaid to Beinglas about 7 miles, no where near as far as we would like but my leg is slowly going down hill we’re currently 41 miles in. Still the people we are meeting are incredible and not as bitey as these little flying bastards. We have seen the back of Loch Lomond now which we’re thankful for. We’re just going to keep seeing stage by stage how far o can get out of my leg. @everyday_amputee @johnny_6.8.01 @vanvistas @henderz86

Day 4..of the west highland way was not what was planned. My leg had got worse and to keep going would definitely be the end of it. So we decided to take a rest day and keep my leg off as much as possible. The wonderful people @inversnaidbunkhouseandbistro sorted us out with another night in their emergency caravan and let us take their kayak out on Loch Lomond for the day. We paddled to a small island called Elanvow which has an old ruined fort on it which was a 5.3 mile round trip. And ended the evening with some more of their amazing food. To keep the trip going we are getting a baggage transfer a bit further up the route to see how I can get on without the extra weight on my back. Will keep you updated. @everyday_amputee

@everyday_amputee and I (apparently now known as Sam and Frodo) have met a lot of lovely people along the way so far but I would like to mention these two locations. Firstly when the skin on my leg went I was going to get a taxi from the @oaktreeinn to drymen to get some dressings but the receptionist Kirsty insisted on driving herself and picking them up for me, which was amazingly helpful and unexpected. Then after a terrible slog up Loch Lomond when I couldn’t go any more we stumbled across @inversnaidbunkhouseandbistro they sorted us out with their emergency caravan, amazing showers and some of the best food I’ve had in ages. After deciding I need to rest my leg for a day, they even drove us down to Loch Lomond and let us use their kayak for the day. The people we’ve met has really made this trip a hell of a lot better.

Third day for @dayonetrauma and it’s been horrendous! Silly hot and sweaty even less skin on my leg. But we’ve met some people that really kept us going we’ve sacked the tent of for a night and got an old school caravan andhot showers and amazing food at the very hospitable @inversnaidbunkhouseandbistro @everyday_amputee

And it begins! Train from Burnley to Glasgow to meet up with Sam @everyday_amputee and a small drive to Milngavie and get moving. Spent the evening heavily stripping my kit down to save weight, it’s still bloody heavy! So the time has finally come to get the West Highland Way under our belts to raise some money and awareness for @dayonetrauma . @everyday_amputee and I will be setting off next Monday the 16th September to get it underway. My first wildcamping trip was a complete success!

My first wildcamping trip was a complete success!

I chose Pen-y-ghent, the lowest of the Yorkshire three peaks. I had a pack weight of 18.5kg. I summited at about 7pm and took about half hour to find a suitable spot to pitch my tent, away from the footpaths, flat-ish, and with a killer view of the sunset.

All achieved.

It's tricky as an amputee but more than doable with a bit of adaption and making sure you take a break to dry your leg before you think it necessary. Otherwise you've usually left it too long.

I was up making a morning brew in my sleeping bag, overlooking the amazing landscape at about half 5. Packed up and away by 7am.

Don't let something stop you doing what you love, adapt it, enjoy it.
